Glenn Hileman
Mr. Hileman joined HighMark School Development in April 2008. In his role as CEO/President, he leads the company’s efforts to provide facility solutions for the nation’s growing charter school movement. He has developed over $100MM of charter school real estate and is a licensed realtor and member of the National Association of Realtors and the Salt Lake Board of Realtors. Prior to joining HighMark, a veteran of 21 years in the consumer Packaged Goods industry, he began his career with Kraft Foods as a sales representative and assumed increasing responsibilities that encompassed sales management, strategic planning and customer marketing. His experiences required 9 relocations across 7 states and included 2 corporate assignments, New York and Chicago. After more than 16 years with Kraft, Mr. Hileman joined Sara Lee Corporation as Vice President of Sales and assumed responsibility for National Accounts that included Kroger, Safeway and Albertsons. Based in St. Louis, he developed and led the implementation of the strategic planning process for the U.S. Fresh Bakery business and established collaborative relationships that led to growth. Mr. Hileman was promoted to Vice President, Customer Development with responsibility of the world’s largest and strategically critical customer, Wal-Mart Inc. This assignment required yet another move for his family to the headquarters of Wal-Mart in Bentonville, Arkansas, where his leadership translated into delivery of between 56% and 80% of the company’s annual bakery growth over 3 years. Mr. Hileman holds a BA in Communications from Brigham Young University.
Mark Skousen
Mr. Skousen joined HighMark School Development in April 2008 and brings 15 years of experience in finance, sales and marketing to various industries. Mr. Skousen is Vice President for HighMark School Development with responsibility over sales and marketing. Prior to holding this title, Mr. Skousen was the director of Investment Banking for HighMark where he capitalized school development project across the country. Prior to joining HighMark, Mr. Skousen co-founded and was the president of a financial services Mortgage Company for six years where he helped generate $20 million in funded loan volume per month resulting in over $100 thousand per month in top line revenue. Prior to starting his own company, Mr. Skousen worked in the Silicon Valley for IBM where he managed an $80 million sales quota in a highly competitive “High Tech” marketplace. Mr. Skousen began his professional career as a consultant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he prepared tax compliance and managed financial portfolios for high net worth clients. Mr. Skousen holds a BS in Finance and Marketing from Brigham Young University.
Lana Nichols
Mrs. Nichols joined HighMark School Development in September 2008. In her role as Director of Finance, she leads the underwriting process for future assets, legal & insurance compliance, real estate transaction coordination, construction budget & draw processing, asset management and risk mitigation. She started her career as a successful Operations Manager for Target Corporation where she managed a crew of three supervisors and twenty employees in back-end operations. In less than a year, she was promoted from a $15 million store to a $30 million store. She then took a position in corporate retail where she gained valuable experience in compiling and analyzing profitability reports and building long-term business relationships. While working in retail, Mrs. Nichols earned her Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers certificate and started a career in technology with 3M Health Information Systems and Ebix Life, Inc. She has 10 years of building and managing client relationships. Prior to joining the HighMark team, Mrs. Nichols worked for WhiteStar Consultancy and has extensive experience with QuickBooks, payroll processing, and general accounting. Mrs. Nichols holds a BA in Business Administration from University of Florida.
Tammy Sweeris
Mrs. Sweeris brings to HighMark School Development an extraordinary blend of construction and financial expertise. Before joining HighMark in July 2011, she spent the past 5 years with Bouma Construction, specializing in the areas of pre-construction and land use. In her most current 3 years, she supported HighMark as a Design/Build Project Developer, assisting in over $50MM in construction projects. Tammy brings to HighMark a passion for educational construction with over 300 projects completed, spanning more than 20 years. She started her career in finance/credit and transitioned her expertise to the construction industry where she served as CFO, while focusing on project management, business development and operations. As Director of Construction & Facilities, she will manage the different processes needed to provide facilities that appropriately serve the programming needs of our various charter school clients. She will continue to mitigate asset risk by supporting our end-users with proper facility care. Tammy’s vast experience in educational facilities allows her to assist our clients in proper space utilization ensuring programming and vision are brought to reality. Her credentials also include US Department of Labor OSHA instructor, ACCE Construction Management Accreditation Visiting Team Member and active participation in many construction industry related organizations. Her other past projects include hospitals, public libraries and public works projects, which enhance her ability to work with the various municipalities associated with project development.
Steve Goodman
Mr. Goodman’s experience as an educator and corporate executive bring skills to HighMark as an administrator, teacher, performer, professional development facilitator, and innovator. He has served both as an elementary school principal and classroom teacher. As the principal of an iSchool, he organized and developed one of the foremost models of innovation in education. This model included a fully digital curriculum, a 1-1 laptop computer environment, differentiated learning for every student, and an assessment model providing daily, individual assessment for every student. Trained by the eminent pedagogue Shinichi Suzuki at the Talent Education Institute in Japan, he founded one of the largest private music schools in the country and has taught widely as a guest lecturer and teacher in the Suzuki Method of music instruction over a 38-year period. Mr. Goodman and the Goodman Family have performed throughout the United State, Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, and Africa. He has also been the executive producer of several recordings and pedagogical curriculum. As the Chief Operating Officer of CheckRite Ltd., he was responsible for all corporate operations, sales, customer service, and research and development. Mr. Goodman holds a BA in Education and MM in Music from Brigham Young University.
Patrick Beausoleil
Mr. Beausoleil joined HighMark in September 2011. As Director of Business Development, Mr. Beausoleil leads our market entry and “first call” efforts with school boards, authorizers, management companies, industry associations, and school founders and staff. His early role assists the team in developing effective and appropriate customer solutions. He is responsible for assessing market topography; assembling and analyzing relevant data; monitoring legislation; and extending that first hand of friendship to those needing facility and financial solutions.
Prior to HighMark, Mr. Beausoleil served as the Director of Business Development for Bouma Construction, a firm generally considered the largest builder of charter schools nationally. Before Bouma he served the same role with Gundlach Champion, a regional design/builder. There he expanded Gundlach’s multi-state reach on both public and private projects, securing its largest design/build project. And he developed unique facility studies for detention centers and vehicle maintenance facilities—deploying innovative approaches still used today.
Mr. Beausoleil also served in the healthcare industry and information technology; and he taught in the US and Japan for seven years. His teaching resume includes universities, community colleges, and corporate training for such industry leaders as Toshiba, Hitachi, NSK, and Taiho Pharmaceuticals.
Mr. Beausoleil holds Bachelors’ degrees in English and Psychology from Grand Valley State University. He also holds an MA in English from Indiana State University.
Kelsy Alsup
Kelsy Alsup joined HighMark School Development in April 2013. As Business Compliance Manager she is the source of contact for all of HighMark’s schools currently in development. She directs the communicative traffic as each project takes shape and engages the members of the HighMark team and those of the client school as needed. She also has the responsibility of getting to know the vision and mission behind each school and its founders so she can accurately present that story to HighMark’s capital investors.
Prior to joining HighMark, Miss Alsup gained valuable experience as a Contract Analyst in the private sector where she learned to recognize what makes a strong agreement and how to stay in compliance with terms. She also spent 2 years working in both local and state governments.
Miss Alsup holds a BS from Brigham Young University in Landscape Management. She also holds a Masters’ degree in Public Administration with endorsements in Finance and Local Government.
Reese Clark
Reese joined Highmark School Development in April 2012 and brings accounting, real estate, and loan processing experience to the team. Prior to joining Highmark Mrs. Clark was a loan processor at Box Home Loans and was responsible for each loan from pre-approval to closing. She furthered her career in finance and accounting at Prudential Utah Real Estate, where she gained experience in analyzing and compiling sales and commission reports. With more than 188 real estate agents in her portfolio at Prudential, Mrs. Clark was responsible for each individual’s commission and compliance.
Reese also has experience within the realm of education. Before entering the world of finance she taught in inner city and private religious schools serving children from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. As a teacher Mrs. Clark developed curricula and provided a high quality-learning environment that addressed the academic, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of children.
Mrs. Clark holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Literature with an emphasis in Metaphysics. She is currently a graduate student at Westminster College, working towards a Master’s degree in accountancy with an emphasis in managerial accounting.
